EDU 492 - Secondary Student Teaching

Prerequisite(s): EDU 354 , EDU 396 , EDU 407 , EDU 417 , and EDU 467 .

This culminating experience provides an immersive opportunity for you to practice teaching in a 6-12 grade public school classroom for a full semester. Under the guidance of a cooperating teacher and university supervisor, you will design, implement, and assess instruction, manage a classroom, and collaborate with colleagues. This course also guides you through the development and submission of a nationally scored edTPA portfolio, demonstrating your mastery of the NC Professional Educator Preservice Standards and readiness for licensure. When Offered: Spring. Note Students must complete 600 hours of field work. They will receive 5 formal evaluations by the instructor aligned with the NC Preservice Professional Educator Standards.
