Internship Requirements
Accounting or Business 461, 462, 465, 466 and 470 are programs of experiential learning which provide on-site work experience with a particular business for a fifteen-week semester. The programs are planned, developed, monitored and evaluated cooperatively by the business firm and The Charles M. Snipes School of Business & Economics.
Three Credit Hour Internship
Students engaged in any three credit hour internship will devote ten hours each week to the work experience. This is the equivalent to one course taken as part of the normal academic load. Six Credit Hour Block
Students engaged in the six credit hour block will devote twenty hours each week to the work experience while taking no more than nine additional credits on campus, the combination of which will comprise the total academic load for one semester. Twelve Credit Hour Block
Students engaged in the twelve credit hour block will devote forty hours each week to the work experience which will normally comprise the total academic load for one semester. If scheduling permits, three additional credits may be taken on campus. Business Internship
Students are qualified to participate in a Business internship if they have earned a 2.5 GPA in their major and have a cumulative 2.5 GPA. In addition, the following courses must have been successfully completed:
Accounting Internship
Students are qualified to participate in an Accounting internship if they have earned a 3.25 GPA in their major with a cumulative 2.5 GPA. In addition, the following courses must have been successfully completed: Successful Completion Includes
Successful completion of each internship includes submission of a bi-weekly log report, midterm interview with the supervising instructor, mid-term and end of the semester evaluations by the job supervisor, and an oral and written presentation to The Charles M. Snipes Business faculty. |
