PAP 509 - Physiology/Pathophysiology I


In this course, students learn integrative human physiology and pathophysiology involving concepts of cell and molecular biology with an emphasis upon homeostatic mechanisms and etiologies of disease. Students learn the interrelationships of function and dysfunction at the molecular, cellular, tissue, organ, and systemic levels. The course also includes the recognition of the role of genetic mechanisms of disease and students will learn to explain the genetic basis of disease and to obtain an accurate genetic pedigree to convey this information to patients. Topics include hematology, infectious disease, and dermatology, ophthalmology, and otolaryngology (EENT), cardiovascular (including ECG), pulmonary, and nephrology/renal. Fall
