Science Communication Minor

The interdisciplinary minor in Science Communication is available to undergraduate students interested in developing their abilities in communicating science to public audiences. It is open to students in all undergraduate majors on campus who want to deepen and broaden their knowledge of how citizens make sense of science and technology in their everyday lives. Required coursework includes 24-26 credit hours, including (1) science courses to develop a broad understanding of general scientific topics, (2) communication courses to enhance student understanding of their audience, (3) an elective course for students to explore various focused topics for science communication, and (4) a capstone course that engages students on more advanced topics such as climate change, pandemics, environmental communication, and others.

Communication Courses (9 hours)
Science Communication Electives
Choose 3 hours from the following:
- ART 383 - Environmental Art
- ENG 281 - Creative Writing
- ENG Special Topics (Created for Minor)
- THR Special Topics (Created for Minor)
- REL Special Topics (Created for Minor)
- LRU Special Topics (Created for Minor)
- Other courses as approved.
