NUR 400 - Health Assessment of Individuals and Populations

This course builds on previous nursing knowledge and competencies related to health assessment. This course focuses on the further development of physical assessment skills and interviewing skills for the assessment of normal health status of individuals. Concepts related to the assessment of health status of communities are also introduced. The concepts of biologic protection, sexuality, homeostasis and regulation, health promotion and maintenance, cultural competence, and interprofessional health care team are all explored as they relate to the assessment of health of individuals and populations. Laboratory and community experiences provide the opportunity to demonstrate competencies related to the assessment of individuals and communities. Competencies associated with client-centered care, teamwork and collaboration, quality and safety and informatics and technology are emphasized.
