MAT 090 - Intermediate Algebra This course establishes a foundation in algebraic concepts and problem solving, with emphasis on applications. Topics include signed numbers, exponents, orders of operation, simplifying expressions, solving linear equations and inequalities, graphing, formulas, polynomials, factoring, rational expressions, rational, radical and quadratic functions, variations, complex numbers, and elements of geometry. Upon completion, students should be able to apply these concepts in problem solving using appropriate technology. Students must complete MAT 090 by the end of the fall semester of their sophomore year. This course does not count toward core or graduation requirements, but the grade and quality points will be included in the student’s cumulative GPA. Fall, Spring
