MIN 701 - ELCA Word and Sacrament Internship

Pre-requisite: Discretion of the LTSS Coordinator of Internship; a positive endorsement decision from the student’s candidacy committee; completion of BIB 500 , BIB 503 or BIB 504 , BIB Gospels elective, MIN 500 , MIN 500A , MIN 501 ,MIN 505 , MIN 510 , MIN 600 , MIN 601 , MIN 610 , THL 501 , THL 503 , THL 550 .
Supervised parish ministry for ELCA Word and Sacrament candidates. Student interns practice a broad range of ministerial skills necessary for pastoral ministry, integrating their academic learning with practical experience in the formation of their own pastoral identity. Internship is an ecclesiastical requirement of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) for candidates for ordained ministry. As such, the seminary administers the internship program for its ELCA students on behalf of the ELCA, and in partnership with the ELCA, the various Candidacy Committees of our ELCA students, and the congregations and other agencies which serve as teaching sites for the interns. Students repeat this course until they fulfill the Word and Sacrament internship requirements as stipulated by the ELCA Candidacy Manual (two semesters for full-time interns).
