Music Performance Minor

Students pursuing this intensive minor study the art, history and theory of music while they hone their vocal or instrumental skills through individual lessons with an expert faculty member and participation in ensembles. The minor culminates in an hour-long recital open to the public. Students pursuing the minor in Music Performance are prepared for graduate study and professional performance opportunities. This minor must be paired with the B.A. in Music. A minor in Music Performance requires 18-19 hours consisting of the following:

Minor Requirements (12 hours)


Required courses for all students:

Music Performance Electives


Select a track depending on music focus area

Instrumentalist Track (6 hours)


Students must complete secondary ensembles (other than MUS 151L Wind Symphony) as indicated below. 

  • Hours: 1
  •      * A total of 4 hours of secondary ensembles on the primary instrument is required

         * A total of 2 hours of secondary ensembles on the primary or secondary instrument is required

Vocalist Track (7 hours)


Students must complete secondary ensembles (other than MUS 151A  A Cappella Choir) as indicated below.
