The purpose of the Lutheran Studies Certificate is to provide qualified laypersons with advanced instruction in Lutheran theology, history and polity in a broader context of ecumenical study.

Required Courses

BIB 500 - Survey of the Bible 3 Credits.
CHS 600 - Lutheranism in North America 3 Credits.
MIN 504 - Spiritual Practices 1 Credits.
THL 550 - Lutheran Confessions 3 Credits.

Choose Two of the Following (6 credits)

BIB Elective (can choose two electives in BIB)
CED Elective (can choose two electives in CED)
CED 500 - Foundations in Faith Formation 3 Credits.
CHS 501 - Church History I 3 Credits.
CHS 502 - Church History II 3 Credits.
MIN 505 - Foundations in Pastoral Care 3 Credits.
MIN 510 - Foundations of Christian Worship 3 Credits.
MIN 610 - Foundations in Preaching 3 Credits.
THL 503 - The Vocation of the Seminarian 3 Credits. (Requires permission of the Associate Dean for Academic Programs)
THL 600 - Introduction to Christian Theology 3 Credits. (Requires permission of the Associae Dean for Academic Programs)
