Students pursuing an English major choose from a variety of classes in American, British and World Literature. The ability to read and interpret text and effectively communicate thoughts and information is a skill that is essential to success.

A minor in English requires 18 hours consisting of the following:

Minor Requirements (6 hours)

ENG 230 - Exploring Literature Hours: 3
ENG 233G - Reading World Literature Hours: 3

Minor Electives (12 hours)

Choose 12 hours of any ENG courses with the following exceptions:

These courses are excluded: ENG 130 and ENG 131
Limitation: No more than three may come from the following:

ENG 236 - Reading Like a Writer Hours: 3
ENG 281 - Introduction to Creative Writing Hours: 3
ENG 345 - Writing Fiction Hours: 3
ENG 346 - Writing Poetry Hours: 3
ENG 347 - Writing Creative Non-fiction Hours: 3
THR 270 - Script Writing Hours: 3
