EDU 270 - Early Literacy

Co-requisite(s): EDU 270L.
This course is designed to teach the fundamental skills that support the later acquisition of reading and writing proficiency. Teacher candidates learn evidence-based practices for teaching oral language, phonological awareness, alphabet knowledge, and concepts of print skills. Teacher candidates also learn how to administer early literacy assessments, utilize assessment data to inform literacy instruction, and monitor student progress. When Offered: Spring, Summer Minimum grade “B-” required for education majors.
