BUS 550 - Healthcare Economics and Finance


Pre-requisite: To begin this course, students must demonstrate competencies in basic business areas, including Accounting, Finance, and Microeconomics. 
This course covers the US healthcare system’s structure and economics, healthcare policy and regulations, and insurance fundamentals. You’ll gain insights into navigating regulations, making informed financial decisions, and driving organizational success. Key components like CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and the ACA will be explored, along with various payment models to enhance care efficiency and patient satisfaction. 
Additionally, you’ll develop financial skills such as understanding healthcare financial statements, healthcare accounting principles, working capital management, the time value of money, investment processes, and various types of budgets. These skills are crucial for improving financial stability and strategic decision-making in healthcare settings.
