EDU 619 - Multicultural Perspectives in Schools

The purpose of this course is to better understand the nature of multiculturalism within the framework of schools. This course provides students with the opportunity to dive deeper into culturally responsive and relevant teaching by becoming competent in more than one culture they may face in the classroom. As the student population in North Carolina grows in it’s diversity, so does the need to be culturally competent though the conceptual, theoretical, and empirical knowledge base related to oppression, privilege and empowerment.
