COU 558 - Advanced Trauma Interventions

This course provides an understanding of the phenomena of trauma and human responses to the aftermath of traumatic events. Discussion includes identifying major types of trauma, the developmental impacts of trauma, and protective and risk factors that may be associated with individual and community responses to potentially traumatic events. Current and historical theoretical frameworks and conceptualizations of trauma, traumatic stress, and trauma recovery will be explored throughout the course. The association between trauma and psychological syndromes is a key component of this course.
