The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as an institutional accreditor. Historically serving as the regional accrediting agency for 11 Southern states, including North Carolina, SACSCOC continues to oversee accreditation for degree-granting institutions in that region. All member institutions are required to undergo a full reaffirmation of accreditation every 10 years and must submit a Fifth-Year Interim Report midway between decennial reviews.
Purpose of Accreditation Status Publication
Lenoir-Rhyne University publishes its accreditation status with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to:
- Provide the public with accurate information regarding the university’s accreditation;
- Enable third parties to submit comments during the university’s decennial review process; and
- Offer a formal channel through which individuals may file complaints alleging the university’s non-compliance with SACSCOC standards or requirements. It is important to note that routine inquiries-such as those related to admission requirements, financial aid, or academic programs-should be directed to the university itself and not to the Commission’s office.
